Over my short life, the
best” diets have changed. Things that used to be good for you, are no longer good for you. Things that were once unhealthy are now found to be beneficial. The more we learn about our physical bodies, the more these diets change. Unfortunately, nobody but God knows the body so perfectly, that we know exactly how it all works, if we did, we could come up with the perfect diet. This brings me to the point of this blog. Christianity has gone through similar cycles, you see things such as “faith only,” Grace only,” “Baptism is for salvation,” “Baptism is not necessary for salvation,” “Baptism is necessary but not essential,” “Salvation comes through obedience, to God,” “Salvation comes by saying the sinners prayer,” and so on and so on.
The same question many ask for the physical diet, “Which is the Best?” One needs to ask, which doctrine or belief is right? Some would have you believe, that all are right and you can choose your own way. Some would say that as long as you believe in Jesus, you will be alright. Well unlike withe physical diet, where God did not give us every specification on, our spiritual diet God has given us the one and only meal plan, that is the Bible. This diet is not a, pick and choose diet, it is not a sometimes diet, it is not a one of many diets; it is the only diet that will lead to a relationship and fellowship with God.
We need to get away from what people say about salvation, we need to get away from what people say about godly living, we need to get away from what people say about worship, we need to go back to the Bible and figure out what God said on each matter and then incorporate that into our lives completely.
God knows how to get to heaven, He is there and Has always been there. God knows what it takes, He knows the proper ingredients, He is the creator of all things, why not go to God for guidance and understanding. God has given us all things for life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3). He has given us everything to be fully equipped for every good work (2 Timothy 3:16, 17). He has given us everything for proper worship (John 4:24; 2 Timothy 1:13-14). God has given us the ability to fight and work out our own salvation by trusting God and faithfully obeying His word (Phil 2:12-13; John 14:23-24; James 1:19-25). We have the correct spiritual diet, there is only one way that God has prescribed. Next time you hear words such as, “many roads to the same destination, you can believe whatever you want and it will be alright, worship God the way you desire” RUN as fast as you can away from that false teaching. Worship, Christianity, godly living is not about you or me, it is about God and Him ALONE. If there is one verse I want to leave you with is this: “Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you– unless indeed you fail the test? (2 Corinthians 13:5). What need would there be for an examination, if all are right and every way is okay?
The only diet I want is from the one who created it all and knows better than all, I hope you do too.
